Although all of them are pretty similar, we think the most accurate one is the one published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) and that’s the one we’d like to share with you.

1. Zurich, Switzerland.

Zurich is the largest city  in Switzerland, has one of the highest quality of life, and is also the most expensive city in the world. In this city you can pay almost $10 for a beer in a bar or $20 for a movie ticket. It is well known that Switzerland is one of the richest countries in the world, but also one of the most expensive. So if you are planing to visit this city or the country, note that it won’t be a cheap travel.

2. Tokio, Japan.

Although Tokio was considered the most expensive city in the world for many years, is nowadays in the second place. In this beautiful city a dozen eggs will cost you around $7 and a can of soda almost $2. In this city the cost of living is incredibly high as well as its quality of life.

3. Geneva, Switzerland.

Geneva is the second most populous city in Switzerland and the third most expensive city in the world. With its museums, architecture, tradition and customs it’s one of the favorite tourist destinations in Europe. Finding cheap food or accommodation in Geneva is not particularly easy. Another interesting detail is that it’s the eighth best cities to live in the world.

4. Nagoya, Japan.

Nagoya is the second most expensive city in Japan and the forth in the world. This city, located on the Pacific coast on central Honshu, is a manufacturing hub, responsible for almost 50% of all automobiles produced in Japan. In Nagoya a can of soda can cost you $1.50 and for a beer in a bar you’ll have to pay $11.

5. Oslo, Norway.

Oslo has been in the top 5 expensive cities to live in since more than ten years. The capital of Norway, is the second expensive European city to live in and the fifth in the world. The city is also known as a safe haven for investors. In the amazing Oslo you can pay almost $18 for a movie ticket. Although is an expensive place to live, its residents are not necessarily rich. The city only ranks fourth when it comes to average wages and purchasing power.
