Fall is definitely here, bringing with it cooler weather, falling leaves and plenty of showers. The changing colours of autumn always give me plenty of fashion inspiration and this year, I particularly love the berry hues of the catwalk. There are plenty of trends to tap into this fall season, so to give you a little inspiration, I’ve come up with the top 5 must have fall accessories.
This fall, flats are firmly back on the fashion radar – but ballet flats are being pushed out of the limelight in favour of slipper shoes, flat shoes that look like outdoor slippers. They are supremely comfortable and you can get them in a huge range of styles and colours. To inject a little fierceness into any outfit, opt for a pair of black studded slipper shoes – they’ll go with anything. For a cool and quirky alternative to black shoes, opt for slipper shoes in a burgundy tone.
Peter pan collars are still in fashion and they will probably be seen on the catwalks for the next few seasons. To instantly update any t-shirt or jumper in your wardrobe, invest in a beaded (or sequinned, or crystal, or pearl… the possibilities are endless!) Peter pan collar to update last year’s clothes into something stylish and bang on trend. Tip: Wear your hair up in a messy top knot to really show off the collar.
If you’re jet-setting this fall, pack your fall fashions into a stylish suitcase. I personally love a stylish leather luggage set as it is completely timeless – but I also love some of the new quilted ranges available. It’s best to invest in a quality set of luggage that will last for years, and the best time of year to buy it is fall as more people buy luggage in the summer, driving the prices up in the heat and down when the leaves start to change colour. My favourite is Antler, as they have a huge range that is purse-friendly.
Leather gloves are an instant way to glam up any outfit. For gloves that will last season after season, opt for a pair in a buttery brown or black hue. For gloves that will be bang on trend for this season, opt for a pair in burgundy (it is THE key colour), or acid pink. Opt for a pair of gloves that come past your wrists – driving gloves are more for the spring/summer.
Fur is big news this fall and for good reason – it is super warm, cosy and it taps into the luxe trend. Fur looks expensive, feels expensive and this fall, will instantly update any coat in your wardrobe. Always opt for fake fur – there are so many good fake furs available nowadays that there is no need to buy real fur. Fur stoles in mink, beige and brown tones will go with everything, but if you want something a little more fun, you can buy fur stoles in a huge range of rainbow hues.
